What is the Edmentum Summer Academic Sprints Contest featuring Study Island? The Edmentum summer Academic Sprints Contest is our 2017 summer contest, which runs from June 1 – August 18, 2017. There will be three total school winners, one from each of the following categories: Elementary School (K-5th Grade), Middle School (6th-8th Grades), and High School (9th-12th Grades). There will also be six total student winners, 1st and 2nd place from each of the following categories: Elementary School (K-5th Grade), Middle School (6th-8th Grades), and High School (9th-12th Grades).
Winners will be determined from a compiled list of total entrants from the registration window: May 10th – August 18th, 2017. Questions answered during the contest period, June 1 – August 18, 2017, will be used to determine winners. All subjects are included in the contest except for custom content and open-ended questions. There may be only one entry per school.
School Winners
Schools must have an overall percentage correct of 60% or above for the contest period and have at least 15 students participating to be eligible to win.
The winning schools will be selected based upon the total number of questions answered correctly during the contest period divided by the number of students participating at the school. The school with the highest average number of questions answered correctly per student will be designated the winner for their category. This will allow for larger and smaller schools to compete on the same playing field.
Student Winners
Students must have an overall percentage correct of 60% or higher for the contest period to be eligible to win.
The students from each grade span who individually answer the most questions correctly in Study Island for their grade span during the contest period will be declared the 1st and 2nd place winners.
Who can participate?Schools who are current Study Island customers as of August 18, 2017 are eligible. A minimum of 15 students per school must participate in order to be eligible for school prizes. Only one entry per school is needed.
Can other Edmentum customers participate if they don't have Study Island? The contest is only open to current Study Island customers as of August 18, 2017.

What if my students don't fit in the traditional registration categories? (i.e. K-5 is Elementary, 6-8 is Middle, 9-12 is High)
Each school may only compete in one grade level category. If you do not fit into our registration categories, select the category that best describes the students who will be competing. For example: If you have 3rd through 6th Grade students competing, most of your students would fall into the Elementary school category, so the best fit for registration would be to select Elementary.
If your school is a K-12 school, select the most appropriate category for the students that will be engaging in the contest.
How will Edmentum determine which students are participating in the contest?
Any student from a registered school who answers questions in Study Island within the contest period in which you have registered will count towards your school total. Students who do not log into Study Island during the contest period will not be counted.
What does it cost to compete in the Summer Academic Sprints Contest?
It is free to register and compete in the contest. Any additional advertisement, prizes, or incentives provided by a school or district are at the sole discretion and expense of that school or district.
Do Questions Answered correctly outside of the contest window count towards my total?
No. Only questions answered during the contest window (June 1 - August 18, 2017) will be counted towards contest totals
What content will count towards contest question totals?
All Study Island subjects are allowed. Custom content and open-ended questions will be excluded.
Students are encouraged to complete assignments that meet their differentiated academic needs and the decision to assign different levels of content is at the discretion of the teacher. Questions answered in content below grade level for remediation needs, on grade level, and above grade level for acceleration purposes will count towards contest totals.
What if there is a tie?In the event of a school tie, the school winners will be determined by the average percent of questions answered correctly per student for active and enrolled students (no teachers or admins) participating in the contest. In the event of a student tie, the student winners will be determined by the percent of questions answered correctly.
What are the prizes?Three total first place school prize winners, one from each of the following categories: Elementary, Middle, and High School will win:
- $250 in school supplies and a $250 pizza party
