MEET OUR PRESENTERS

Tanya Wright
Children's author and actress

Tanya Wright, Ed. M., is a two-time SAG Award winner (Best Ensemble) for her portrayal of Crystal Burset in Orange is the New Black; she received her master's in Learning Design, Innovation and Technology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. While there, Tanya created Goodnight, Hairiette --a picture book, puppet musical and reading curriculum with cliffhangers, the answers to which can only be found in the chapter book, Hairiette and the Great Birthday Surprise. The Hairiette System—based on an African-American girl with galactic hair --is built around learning and motivation; Tanya believes reading achievement can be driven by motivation and engagement.

Tanya won the Harvard Innovative Venture in Education (HIVE) Award, Education Entrepreneurship Fellowship and was a finalist in the Saul Zaentz Early Education Innovation Initiative for Hairiette of Harlem.

Jen Perry
Senior Manager Learning Design/Whole Learner

Jen joined Edmentum and is the Senior Manager of Whole Learner/ Learning Design after 30+ years of work with youth in educational and community settings.

As a teacher, administrator, and trainer, her passion has been to help educators develop an understanding of the importance of the whole learner in learning pedagogy. This work has included supporting youth, administrators, and schools in understanding behavior, and implementing transformational change through strength-based, trauma informed approaches. As a thought leader for Edmentum and speaker nationally and internationally on the pedagogy of learning and the impact of evolving brain science on teaching practice, Jen also designed the content and guide for 120 executive function activities K-2 for Edmentum and has been a thought leader around the connection between Executive Function and Dyslexia.
