Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Edmentum Spring Academic Sprints Contest featuring Study Island?
The Edmentum Spring Academic Sprints Contest is our 2014 spring contest, that runs in two, one-week spans, from March 10 - March 16, 2014 (week 1) and from March 17 - March 23, 2014 (week 2). The goal is to have students answer as many questions correctly in Study Island as they can during the week their school is registered for the contest!
All subjects are included in the contest except for custom content and open-ended questions. The contest is open to schools who are current Study Island customers as of March 9, 2014. There may be only one entry per school with a minimum of 20 students participating.
The winning school will be determined by the highest average number of questions answered correctly per student participating. The winning student will be determined by the total number of correct questions answered in Study Island.
There will be one school winner and one student winner in each of the three grade categories, Elementary School (K - 5th Grade), Middle School (6th - 8th Grade), and High School (9th - 12th Grades).
Who can participate?
Schools who are current Study Island customers as of March 9, 2014 are eligible.
How do customers enter?
A teacher, principal, or other school administrator can enter their school by filling out our contest form (no students please). The deadline to enter for week 1 is March 9, 2014 by 11:59 PM CST. The deadline to enter for week 2 is March 16, 2014 by 11:59 PM CST. Entries are accepted for schools only. We cannot accept a single entry for an entire district. Click here to register.
How are the winners determined?
All entries will be separated according to the following three grade spans: Elementary School (K – 5th Grade), Middle School (6th – 8th Grade), and High School (9th – 12th Grade). One school prize winner and one student prize winner from each grade span will be chosen from total entries at the end of the two week participation period.
The winning schools will be selected based upon the total number of questions answered correctly by their students in Study Island divided by the total number of students that participated from that school. The school with the highest average number of questions answered correctly per student will be designated the winner. This will allow for larger and smaller schools to compete on the same playing field.
The student who correctly answers the highest number of questions in Study Island from each grade span will be selected as the winning student.
All Study Island subjects are allowed. Custom content and open-ended questions will be excluded.
What are the prizes?
