The morning will begin with our guest speakers, Mary Paquette and Kayla Watkins, and a panel discussion. Mary will be talking about how she uses personalized learning in her classroom. After that, we will split up to discuss the following topics:

  • Raising scores on state benchmarks and assessments
  • Individualized approach to addressing foundational skills
  • Using personalized learning to prepare students for their college and career paths

There will be moderators to facilitate the discussion, and everyone will get the chance to discuss two of the three topics. We all do this differently, so bring something you want to share that you think would be valuable to other educators, and be thinking of what you want to learn!

All participants will receive a certificate of completion. For any questions or dietary restrictions, please email Josh.Howell@edmentum.com.

Mary Paquette

Mary Paquette is currently teaching 5th grade at Oologah Upper Elementary in Oologah, Oklahoma. She has taught for 24 years with five years experience in Houston, TX, eight years in Madison, WI, and eleven years in Oologah, OK. She has taught kindergarten, third grade, fourth/fifth combination grades, fifth grade, and sixth grade. While in Madison, WI she had the opportunity to team with the University of Wisconsin in a study of how students learn math through (CGI) Cognitively Guided Instruction, as a research participant. She also traveled to The Netherlands to a Math Institute in Mathematics In Context. She is now implementing personalized learning in her classroom through the use of Exact Path, Study Island, MAPS NWEA, and online resources.

Kayla Watkins

Kayla Watkins is the principal at Hinton Middle School, as well as the District NWEA Testing Coordinator and District Digital Curriculum Coordinator for Hinton School District. She previously taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade, but she found her home and passion when she began teaching Middle School.
